In 1965, at the foundation of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) in Australia , Kenneth Boulding gave a lecture titled 'The evolutionary potential of Quakerism ' On this Wiki we hope to update these foundational ideas in the light of new knowledge and understanding in both evolution and Quakerism. Over time the project will evolve and change.

On this Wiki we will develop a series of short papers covering many aspects of the topic. As well as theory and theology, we will explore the practical implications for social change, peace and compassion. Following Quaker tradition, I hope we will learn this experimentally, that is, by reflecting on our own action for positive social change.

The EPOQ Project[]

The project is founded and coordinated by Ian Hughes, a retired community worker and community health researcher, and a Member of Wahroonga Local Quaker Meeting in NSW Australia. He has a special interest is the use of action research and complex adaptive systems theory in practice. We hope that others will join the project.
